The Anaheim Water Recyling Demonstration ProjectThe City of Anaheim wished to implement a water reclamation project. The
project would demonstrate on a small scale how the City could divert wastewater
to a facility for treatment to become ‘gray’ water, suitable for such uses as
irrigation. TSA was a part of a team tasked with the design of the building.
The project site was selected to be adjacent to City Hall and was designed to
allow visitors to see and understand the process utilizing large windows and
interpretive panels. Numerous alternatives were developed, ranging from matching the design
elements of the existing City Hall to being quite different by utilizing more
modern elements of design to highlight and call attention to the facility.
Important design elements of the building include viewing windows to allow
visitors to see and understand the process, a waterfall to show the reclaimed
water and an outdoor plaza for public use.
